i'm trying to get back in the groove of blogging regularly .... and i'm woefully behind ... so i'm telling you about some of last week ... or maybe the week before? .... old art endeavors ....
my new year's resolution was to do 20 pieces on a theme ... and the theme was home ... house ... and i've not really done one yet ... well ... i did ... and i put a nest on it instead of the house that i had planned for it ....so i'm not sure it counts .... but ... i've been sketching houses ... trying to figure out my house thing ... since i'm in an art rut... or an un art phase, really, not a rut, i'm trying to stretch and think and do artistic exercises that might lead me back to wantint to paint ....
in my endeavor to get regrouped on this blog .... please drop me a comment, making sure i know how to contact you .... and ask a question .... at least one commenter a day will get someting randomly artsy in the mail ..... yesterday's art giveaway is for cathy at musing in mayhem .... thanks cathy .. i'll get to you at the end of the week to find out your snail mail addy ....
leave a comment, ask a question, amuse me, keep me going... help!

I love houses and buildings. These are good sketches! But if you aren't into it, it's just frustrating to try to make yourself. Thanks for posting these. After drawing a lot of houses and buildings, I started liking to distort them and make them less 'structurally sound', if you know what I mean... Maybe you could play with the form like crazy, knowing you could toss them out. This way you might be feeling more house friendly.
i've been in an un-art phase myself lately. fall is crazy for me, so the rush has hit. okay, well, yes, all year is crazy for me, but fall is MORE crazy due to football season. :-) i useta could draw (yes, i just made up a word). maybe i should try that again.
firstly, THANK YOU! i really didn't expect to win. funny, early today i was looking at it thinking how lovely it woud look on my new green bedroom wall! which relatively matches you blog background.
secondly, i think a lot of use are going through a down cycle in the creative realm. i'm trying to dig back into my manuscript this week, but not feeling it. and i watch snippets of poems float by when i'm nowhere to write them down or form a complete thought on them. but that's just in the past week or so. for the previous 6ish weeks - nothin, nada, kaput.
I've missed your happy self in blog land and I'm glad to see you back even as you wade through this un art stage. I'm wondering if you will try Chris' idea of distorting the houses? Sounds like it might be helpful or at least fun to try.
chris .... i USUSALLY distort things ... so i was trying to do other wise ... i actually ended up making a piece i liked ... not loved... but liked .... and it is more about color and texture than structure ....
kelly, i bet you useta could draw and still can!
cath, i'm happy, just not arty ...so i'm ok with the down cycle ... and i do think it is around and about .... lots of the blogs i usually follow are as dormant as mine has been ... send me your addy, i'll send you a prize ....
sharon, thanks for missing me! ... and it kind of cracks me up that your question was about chris's ...
i plan to do art tomorrow !
funny thing, i am happy, too, just not writey...although i have managed to keep the blog going regularly.
All of blogland seems kind of slow these days. Wonder if everyone is on twitter or facebook. Oh well.
Your houses are good exercise like you say. Sometimes its time to putter and muddle along and have a think. I'll bet something terrific is going to come from this.

Grin. I did have a question to ask but then reading the other posts, I really did want to know if Chris' idea sparked anything for you! tee hee! Have a great day!
you drew a house eons ago with a gnome in front of it.....Where is that drawing? I think it was even framed.....
Non art days are a big thing for me....seems hard to get back to finding something I want to do in the studio, Maybe because of the big gallery hop I am involved with planning for Saturday. 10 venues, all with planned activities, music, and food! hope it works out as well as last year's did.....
