39 and 40 for the year

these are the last two paintings that i did last week .... the class was an abstract collage class .... so, the last eight, all done in the class, weren't abstract .... i have trouble with abstract, actually.... so i always put a bit of representational in ...but with these two, i made thick, thick, thick gesso backgrounds and pressed my large alphabet stamp into them ..... so there is VERY thick lettering...raised ....rough..... highly textured .....
so once i got the thick luscious backs, i used a variety of golden's fluid acrylics to play in and out of the texture .... i painted and buffed and painted and roughed and painted some more .... and this is what i got ....with all that lettering they have a resemblance, a thematic thread comparable to my usual art style .... but are more abstract ...though no where near as traditionally abstract as most of the artists in my class......

i think they are lovely ... but they aren't very "me" ..... whaddaya think? me or no?
and if you were me and you made something not "me" meaning not "you" would you, being me, put it in your gallery show that's happening in about a month?
and if you understand that question? you could be me...... how weird is that?

being e.beck . . . that could be a movie . . . the abc's are wonderful, and not that I really know you, but I think they actually do look like you.

How weird is that?

Hum, as I first looked at these two, without reading any of your post (sorry, I always skim through the cream before I sort through the crop!) I though, this seems like a "rougher" side of e that I don't know about...

just my inner thought...

Yes, they have your signature to me and yes I'd put them in the gallery just to stretch people's vision a little. I think they will play off well against the "traditional e" paintings.

BTW - I like the blue one best because the darker block gives it a focus... but probably removes it a bit further from abstract.

Do you think I have an opinion? HAHAHA

If I were you and did something not "me" and it looked like these two, which by the way in my opinion has your style right out there, I being me would definitely put these in your gallery show.
