sigh ...

at dinner tonight .... before the first middle school dance ....
mr.e.beck.artist: so, are you going to dance tonight?
girl.beck.artist:no
boy.beck.artist:no
e.beck.artist: oh yes you are! if some sweet sixth grader is brave enough to ask you to dance, you have to say yes to be polite .....
boy.beck.artist: ok
girl.beck.artist: WHAT?
e.beck.artist: please be polite at your first dance ....
boy.beck.artist: what if a seventh grade boy asks her ....
e.beck.artist: then she has to ask him his name and then dance with him....
mr.e.beck.artist: what if an eight grade boy asks her ...
e.beck.artist: then she has to punch him in the stomach and run ......

i just picked my twins up from the middle school dance ....
the boy danced ... but only when girls asked him .... and it was only slow dances ....
the girl danced .... only when boys asked her .... slow dances and fast ....
how do they grow up so quickly?

slow dances, you worry cause you have to touch ....
fast dances, you worry that you look goofy ....
i think your dance preferences say a lot about you.... do you dance?

I love to dance! So funny, last night I had a dream that I was learning how to waltz!

This is one reason I didn't have children. I couldn't take the pressure.

Another reason is because I kept punching boys in the stomach.

Too funny!
My 7th grader just had her first dance last Friday. It's just for the 7th and 8th graders. I asked her about dancing beforehand and she said no one was going to dance. I also explained that she needed to be polite and dance with whoever asked. It's hard to get any info out of this child, but she did say she danced 7 times. She also said she had a good time!

Looks like we made it over another hump, haha!!! Yay for us all.

I love to dance, too. Very MAry loves to clog dance, just ask her. We have a standing date.
In school, even though I loved to dance, school dances were torture. I've never been very politic - if a guy asked me to dance and he was nerdy, I was embarrassed. If by some grace of God a cool guy asked me to dance I was self-conscious. If nobody at all asked me to dance I was mortified.
I now keep my dancing self at home in my living room, alone with the volume cranked.
