ho ho ho .....

for lack of art to show you, i have a christmas tree i did last year ....

tomorrow, i am going to dig my way into my studio space and my christmas nook, and find this piece, and hang it up here in my rental house ...

heidi, that cute every day cookie girl, was wondering about the lack of blogging on my part ....
three days ago, on saturday, we moved! to a beige blah brown rental house ... a rental house that is perfect in its size and price .... and oh so wron
g for colorful me! ... but beige will just have to do for a bit ..... i have a six month renovation going on at my real sunshine happy house .... we are updating the kitchen, growing the family room, and finishing the attic with two bedrooms and a bathroom ... the tricky part there is that there are no stairs to the attic, so the very nice architect figured out how to do it .... and the very nice builder is going to do it ...

the whole renovation thing has been chugging along as an idea for TWO years ... now BOOM it's real all of a sudden .... it went from a notion to a flat out fact in the blink of an eye ... or so it seems .... and now i'm in it up to my ears ... unpacking and settling in at the rental house ... taking DOZENS of trips to goodwill .... and trying to get my sweet family some semblance of a christmas celebration ..... life is a whirlwind and art and blogging (which are linked in my life) have screeeeeeeched to a stand still .... oops!
so, let's take a moment and talk about appliances, shall we?
i spent my morning at an appliance store ....
you probably know about dishwasher drawers already, right?
that's kind of new and funky ...
but did you know they have microwave drawers now?
how weird is that?
my question was, when someone microwaves nachos and the salsa explodes all over the microwave, how do you wash the TOP of the inside of the microwave drawer .... clearly the sales guy has never had a salsa incident ....

so .... what's your favorite appliance in your house ... that you really like ....
and....
what appliance are you unhappy with in your life, which one needs an upgrade?

not that anyone should be giving you an appliance for christmas!

Ahhhh...she's been found! I'm so nosey, I have to know where/how/when/why... Now I know! Hope you'll have a nice cozy Christmas in your rental. I know NOTHING about new appliances! I don't know about drawers! The last appliance I bought was over 10 years ago....

I love your Christmas tree...I have the print up now!
Hugs, Heidi

elizabeth - catching up with your posts....it is so heartwarming to hear about your move into the rental, and that you know you can 'make christmas' anywhere, with your family. what a grand gift. the house plans sound like a dream, i'd love to expand! the drawer thing? never heard of any of it! we re-vamped our whole kitchen but we lived through it...you are lucky to be away from it all. truly. i really wanted RED appliances, but got voted out.

merry christmas to you.

Glad to finally see you agsin; I have been watching! With three kids, Christmas will happen no matter what! So long as there is a tree with lights and decorations, the required manger scenes, A few nutcrackers strewn about and lots of cookies and good kitchen smells! remember, artmom knows!!!

I am so thankful that your move is for a GOOD thing!! =) How exciting to have your sunshine home renovated to be made even MORE perfect!! Yay!

I have two favorites, actually...they are without doubt my oven/stove and my coffee pot! For lots of reasons that I won't bore you with.

My least favorite appliance is my handmixer. I usually just end up doing it by hand...but I'm hoping that maybe this year might be the year I'll get a KitchenAid mixer...then IT might become my favorite appliance!

Take care!

love the christmas tree art, even if it is last year's! :-) hope you are getting settled into the rental okay. hmmm...my favorite appliance...not sure i have a favorite appliance unless it's my toaster. we have a dishwasher, but we rarely use it. my husband is the cook of the house so he uses the stove and oven far more than i do. and i hate the way the microwave makes my pizza a bit soggy and chewy. i don't drink coffee. so i guess that leaves me with the toaster. i do love me some toast. especially the english muffin bread from the publix bakery. oh wait! the washer and drier! nah....need new ones. it's definitely the toaster.

I'm happy with my appliances. Nice place to be. Well, except one. The range hood light fixture is on the fritz. Hubby has made all manner of promises, to either replace it, find an order part number and replace the broken bits, and take a jack hammer to it. But .. I'm still cooking in the dark.

may the holiday fairies bless you with a smooth and most excellent reno!

ok, so not one to usually want appliances of most sorts (but also being a serious coffee fiend), the fam surprised me with an early Christmas gift - it's a coffee maker with no hot plate! The coffee brews directly into a coffee urn that actually keeps the coffee hot (for a time, at least) and doesn't turn it into sludge ... oh yeah, the angels are a singing!

happy, happy holidays!!
