today is the 12th day of national blog post month ...so i'm posting every day in november ... i find it a bit odd that the organizers give prompts five days a week but not on the weekend ... we're meant to be blogging these days, but they don't prompt us? weak effort! they could have preplanned them and made scheduled posts so it wouldn't be actual weekend work for them ... so that bugs me ... mostly because last weekend i searched high an low on the website for the prompt that didn't exist ... oh well .... instead of reading more focused writing, you get my usual artsy talk meanderings .....
here is photo of my dining room table ... it is only ready for thanksgiving because this is how it looked for the month of october .. those gourds came out with our plastic pumpkins ... and the indians and pilgrims were tucked away in the side cabinet and easy to add on november 1 ... or 2 or 3 .... i have the thanksgiving decor on my grandmother's haviland china ... it is so crisp and brittle that i hardly feel like i can use it for meals .... there are dozens of saucers but only four or five remaining coffee cups ... there are dozens of finger bowls? or low berry bowls? and tiny dessert plates .... in all i have 60 dishes or so that are all five inches or less across .... makes for some easy fanciness ..... in front of that, i have the newest pottery pick up ... i got it from the kiln yesterday ... it is 21 by 5 inches .... loooooong and thin .... perfect for a row of votives ... or petit fours .... or cheese chunks .... it is chocolate clay with mexico point green glaze ... and then i brushed cream breaking read over the texture to highlight it .... this one will definitely be a gift this year ... instead of getting my christmas shopping done ... i'm doing my christmas potting .... har ...
i can't believe thanksgiving is so soon ... i need to get onto thinking about it at least ... like, which rooms to clean for which relatives ... and which pies to have ... and that's all that's important to plan... family and pie ... beyond that, it'll all just fall into place, i hope ....

Actually your great-grandmother's haviland that was handed down to your grandmother and then to you....Back then there were all sorts of special dishes-butter plates, berry bowls in different sizes, soups in at least two sizes...and so on! too bad cups broke so quickly! no need to clean a room for us! We do not mind a little clutter or dust!
